TEOMCROTE = TEOTWAWKI on steroids! The End Of Mankind's Current Reign Over The Earth takes into account that our ancestors were neither suicidal, stupid, nor our genetic inferiors but still wound up getting wiped off the Earth. Whereas CSER [cser.org: Centre for Study of Existential Risk] tries to PREVENT this dispensation from coming to an end, TEOMCROTE works from the eventuality/possibility/probability that the end our age takes place and what to do then

Moringa

Image
Have you ever heard of the Moringa tree? treesforlife.org and miracletrees.org. I read a book about this tree over a year ago in Puerto Rico. Scientists discovered that it has more nutritional value than just about any food out there.
I think we can root from a portion of the moringa tree, but people usually start it at seed. I think it would be good to just ship the seeds in bulk. I have read that it is a good fence because it grows very fast. Probably one of the fastest growing trees alive.

wood species and strength

David Wolfe talks about surrounding trees with logs and leaves and such to promote fungal growth around the tree.
Also that lower branches need to be cleared [what deer would naturally do] so wind can blow through the trees.

In this vid with Paul Wheaton [permaculture guru] he explains that trees naturally develop tap roots that go very deep and draw water from deep down BUT that is you water that tree it will drop it's tap root and you'll be forced to keep watering it or it will die.
The folks at Groasis explain that the tap root is very special and capable of pushing it's way through solid rock. Therefore trees need to either be sown on the spot or properly grown, i.e. without making the taproot turn up- or sidewards.

variety

Image
Some people may not realize that fruit can be had all through the year. Like in the above chart, this farmer at a farmer's market near Los Angeles has many different varieties of tangerine so he can sell them almost all year round.
You can have peaches from April through November, etc. etc. etc.

palm trees

Date palms
This is a good article on date palms.
- 8 to 10 years (or more) to fruit
- must have female and a male in the vicinity
- hybridize easily (so important to keep seeds separate)
