sunlight / Vitamin D


There's a lot of hype going on about Vitamin D.

What i understand of it, if you put things out in the Sun, they acquire Vit D. One story i heard has to do with people drying their pasta outside in the Sun and when this was determined undesirable and made illegal, this seriously effected the people's health because their pasta no longer contained the Vit. D that it had before.

There's likely so much to do about Vit. D because it is so essential to so many systems in the body. That makes the subject matter complicated and confusing. In the end the story is simply: you need to get enough sunlight and/or foods that have acquired Vit. D by being out in the Sun.

Relative to TEOTWAWKI or TEOMCROTE is that a nuclear winter will likely ensue after TSHTF and you'll be living without sunlight for a year or more. It will then help to know how to supplement 'Vit. D' or to supplant sunlight as a source of it.

Optimum vitamin D blood saturation reduces all-cause mortality by nearly thirty percent

The importance of vitamin D for human health has been the topic of extensive research over the past decade. Little Sunshine Mistakes that Can Give You Cancer Instead of Vitamin D
The first few days, you should limit your exposure to the sun to allow your body's melanocyte cells to rev up the ability to produce protective pigmentation that not only gives you a tan, but also serves to help protect you against overexposure to the sun.
If you are a fairly light skinned individual that tends to burn, you will want to limit your initial exposure to a few minutes, especially if it is in the middle of summer.
The more tanned your skin will get, and/or the more tanned you want to become, the longer you can stay in the sun. If it is early or late in the season and/or you are a dark skinned individual, you could likely safely have 30 minutes on your initial exposure. If you are deeply pigmented and your immediate ancestors are from Africa, India or the Middle East, it is possible you may not even have to worry about the timing of your exposure.
Let it be your primary goal to never get sun burned.
The skin around your eyes and your face is typically much thinner than other areas on your body. It is strongly recommended to protect this fragile area of your body as is at a much higher risk for cosmetic photo damage and premature wrinkling.

Borax — The Inexpensive Detox, Arthritis, Osteoporosis And Mycoplasma Cure
Boron initiates estrogen by helping convert vitamin D into an active state.
Some symptoms of Boron deficiency are arthritis, brittle bones, carpal tunnel syndrome, degenerative joint disease, hormonal imbalance, loss of libido, memory loss, muscle pain, osteoporosis, receding gum, and weak joint cartilage. Boron deficiency causes greatly increased amounts of calcium and magnesium to be lost with the urine. [Symptoms remiscent of lack of Vit. D.]
Boron also has an important role in converting vitamin D to its active form, thus increasing the calcium uptake and deposition into the bones and teeth rather than causing soft tissue to calcify.

Dissolve a lightly rounded teaspoonful (5-6 grams) of Borax in 1 quart of filtered water. (Pour a small amount of boiling water in the quart jar first and stir to dissolve; then fill the jar with cold, filtered water.) This is your concentrated solution, keep it out of reach of small children.
For the Standard Dose: 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of concentrate. This has 25 to 30 mg of Borax and provides approximately 3 mg of Boron. If you have no specific health problems or for maintenance you may consume with 1 or 2 teaspoons daily.
If you DO have health problems such as arthritis, osteoporosis and related conditions such as, joint-pain, cramps, spasms, or stiffness, menopause, and also to improve low sex hormone production, increase the intake to 1 – 3 Tablespoons (depending on your size and how you feel after taking the doses.) Space-out these doses over the day for several months or longer until you feel that your problem has sufficiently improved. Then drop back to 1 or 2 teaspoons per day for maintenance.
