insomnia / sleep disorders
Sleep is a big deal, especially since no one seems to have real answers to how to deal with insomnia.
Dr. Mercola has this list of 33 things that might help and i can at least add that drinking 2 or 3 tablespoons of fats, like coconut oil and olive oil, can help. The brain is fatty tissue and needs loads of fats, which most people don't consume enough of.
Forum posts at longecity.com on insomnia (that i found interesting):
- 5-MTHF [folate]
- Mangosteen
- Brahmi Bacopa [monniera, herpestism]
- ashwaganda
- passion flower
- Life Extension's Tryptopure
- GABA
- lemon balm, skullcap mulungu, valarian root, black cohosh root
- lithium orotate
- Niacin-1 to 2 hours before you go to bed
- Phenibut [no more than 1x per week]
- lyrica

EFT / tapping
Tapping is about short-circuiting the conditioning by way of it's physical aspect and interrupting the flow of a conditioning through energy flows in the body.
This woman suffered from insomnia for 19 years and cured herself through tapping.

causes of insomnia
In this radio interview podcast with Dietrich Kinghardt he speaks of the different levels of disease. Very interesting.
Specifically about insomnia he names levels of causes:
1: chronic inflamation and toxicity, particularly in the brain;
2: electromagnetic and microwave pollution;
3: stress
He says that Matrix Metals, a nanonized form of chlorella, helps detox the brain of mercury and other heavy metals.

Essential oils for sleep
Cowslip relaxes and is highly effective in the treatment of stress, nervous excitation, tension, and insomnia, according to Stephen Buhler's Sacred and Herbal Healing Beers.
New lavender oil clinically proven to relieve occasional anxiety
Lavender essential oils have been used in European hospitals, mainly France, for treating burns. But that is not the only application of lavender that has proven itself. Insomnia and anxiety relief are the most common uses aside from burns
It's commonly sold and used as an essential oil for aromatherapy or made into a tea from the lavender leaves. The oil can be applied to the skin for transdermal absorption. Actually, it can be applied to the skin, say the inner wrists, and then inhaled through the nose to maximize its use. The leaves are steeped in boiled water for 15 minutes.

Iodine make your own Lugol's
Synergy One is supposed to improve sleep dramatically through the growth hormones it offers.
Tony Pantelleresco's website says about this:
Human Growth Hormone (hGH) helps to regulate and facilitate Sleep--Endogenous hGH is released during Slow-Wave Sleep and helps to regulate REM Sleep. Exogenous, supplemental hGH has been demonstrated to restore Slow-Wave Sleep and REM Sleep patterns to normal. Supplemental, exogenous Melatonin decreases the relative proportion of the Drowsiness and Stage 1 Sleep and increases the relative proportion of Stage 2, Slow-Wave and Rapid Eye Movement Sleep Supplemental Melatonin greatly reduces the number of movements during Sleep, reduces the time taken to fall asleep after retiring (Sleep latency), reduces the body’s core temperature during Sleep and improves the subjective quality of Sleep without increasing next-morning Drowsiness.
Essential oils from orange peels are sedative in nature so it makes them great for calming nerves and inducing sleep. Use orange peels in baths, simmer in a pot to uplift your mood, or beat insomnia naturally.
other herbs
An insomniac i know suggest putting hops in one's pillow case. He said he used to work in a brewery and that men there were known to pass out due to handling hops. Hops is also mentioned in the link directly above. This insomniac i know mentioned a hops - lavender mix for in the pillow.
He also mentioned that lying down to sleep in a coffin can help...!

adrenal fatigue
page 9 of James L. Wilson's book Adrenal Fatigue he writes:
When the adrenals are not secreting the proper amount of hormones, insomnia is also one of the likely outcomes.
In David Wolfe's latest presentation on hormone issues he goes into the matter of how to improve hormonal conditions. He mentions 5 steps to take in relation to diet but also that the body's cycles adjust to the Sun and it would be preferable to go to bed (more) when the Sun goes down. Not watching TV or computer screen which emit light directly to the viewer should also help; that means that watching TV and working on the computer in the evening are poor choices.
Atom Bergstrom's chronobiotic theory then also comes to mind: if the body is allowed to adjust to natural biological rhythms through dietary choices that support (and can reestablish) said rhythms, the body's natural ability to sleep during the dark hours should function properly. Atom Bergstrom also says that being asleep by 22:00 [sundial time] supports the endocrine system.

how much sleep
How Our Ancestors Used to Sleep Twice a Night
According to Atom Bergstrom:
We don't have to sleep if we know how to achieve the conscious state of mobile delta. Fifth Level Masters never sleep because you can't love God with all your heart and all your mind and all your strength (breath) unless you do it 24 hours a day. "All" is the operative word. Fourth Level Masters and everyone below must sleep. Jesus rebuked "The Twelve" for their lack of faith in this biological actuality at the Garden of Gethsemane ("Oil Press").

experiences
Catarelle? Garlic? Raw goat's milk?
I'm 48 years old and since a year or so i usually wake up a few times a night. I've even experienced insomnia for the first time of my life this past year.
The other night i slept the entire night without waking, for the first time since i can remember. I got to thinking: "What brought this about? What did i eat (since nothing else changed or happened)?
The day before this good night i received a liter of raw goat's milk in the afternoon and i drank half of it.
In the evening i made an omelet with 7 eggs and a bunch of fungi (Cantarelle). My wife had cut a bunch of garlic, much more than i would otherwise use for cooking myself, 2 or 3 cloves.
I will be experimenting to try and find out which one (or which combination) made me sleep well.
