foods for reversing diabetes


This article is called The top 20 foods for reversing type-2 diabetes.

They leave out a few:
In a blog post by Atom Bergstrom, he mentions that people with diabetes should eat green apples for it's aluminiumoxide.
He (and other sources) mention cactus leaves and fruit, but Atom says they need to be eaten at night.

About 25 minutes into this 74 minute talk by David Wolfe on hormones he mentions that diabetes is a syndrome, not a disease, one in large part caused by an overabundance of Omega 6 in the diet.
In the above link to 20 good foods this is suggested but apparently not understood as such:
A recent study involving the Yup'ik people of Alaska indicates that consuming the type of fish rich in omega-3 fatty acid can protect against diabetes. This study is particularly interesting because it suggests that the link between obesity and diabetes may be more complex than originally thought.
Although 70% of the Yup'ik populationis classified as obese, only 3.3% of them have diabetes. Fish which contain omega-3 fatty acids include mackerel, salmon, lake trout, herring, tuna and salmon.


As can be understood from information i posted under Omega 3, 6, and 9, foods that offer the most Omega 3 are:
- flax seeds
- fatty fish
- walnuts
In the above article they mention fish and walnuts but fail to mention flax seeds which uniquely offer a 4 to 1 ration of Omega 3 to Omega 6 [the ratio being the determining factor].

One important note in relation to the above. Part of the big problem with actually getting enough Omega 3's is that they are so easily destroyed by cooking. Someone told me he eats hemp seeds [great, right?!] but then told me that he bakes them to make them tastier... emoticon
Not only are hemp seeds fine to eat raw [taste a little like sunflower seeds], by heating them one destroys
- Omega 3's
- amino acids
- enzymes
contained therein. In other words: raw hemp seeds are a superfood and processed hemp seeds are pretty much a waste of time. Sigh.

Flax seeds contain an Omega 3 to 6 ratio that's even 12 x higher than that of hemp seeds (which has a good ratio in itself). Consumed as flaxseed oil [yuk] or as (freshly) ground seeds [i thought it smelled chocolatey] they can be essential to health or healing. Apparently especially so in the case of diabetes (but also for neurological trauma, for instance).
