TEOMCROTE = TEOTWAWKI on steroids! The End Of Mankind's Current Reign Over The Earth takes into account that our ancestors were neither suicidal, stupid, nor our genetic inferiors but still wound up getting wiped off the Earth. Whereas CSER [cser.org: Centre for Study of Existential Risk] tries to PREVENT this dispensation from coming to an end, TEOMCROTE works from the eventuality/possibility/probability that the end our age takes place and what to do then

the Ego

Michael Tsarion's 3.5 hour The Future of Mankind goes into the (possible) source of ego. This starts 27:22 min. into the talk.

This approach to ego as a kind of soul trauma is very interesting, i think, in that it thereby is suggestive that the soul can be healed of the ego, rather than ego being a kind of natural stage that can or need be transcended, thereby also suggestive that life is about learning, i.e. you are wanting and undeserving...

In other words, this idea is a pretty big deal.

ego as activity

According to Adi Da Samraj ego is ACTIVITY, not entity. It's an important distinction to make.

The activity that IS ego will melt away if the activities that make up ego discontinue. Now IF ego were entity [which it isn't], then it would lead a more-or-less independent and stable existence. This is the idea of ego that Western culture works with. The ASSUMPTION thereby is always that the ego must be OVERCOME. This is in itself logical IF you ASSUME that ego is an entity.

Adi Da often compared it to a person clenching their fist; after a while the fist gets numb because the clenching itself is cutting off blood from flowing to the fingers. The analogy continues that desensitivity of mind and spirit is similarly effected by focus on the activity of limiting certain experience, creating a mental numbness, as it were.
How does one get a healthy relaxed hand? Simply by the 'act' of STOPPING to clench the fist.
The activity that is like a clenching hand, i.e. ego, simply disappears when one stops clenching. The transcendence of ego is then not about any fight or struggle, it's about CEASING to struggle.

Transcendence of ego can also be considered within this analogy, for if you've been clenching your fist for a long time and you suddenly stop, the blood flowing back into your hand will actually be painful.
The answer, to that pain, obviously, is NOT to start clenching your hand again...
The Guru [also others besides Adi Da, as He Himself makes clear] can offer the person caught up in this struggle support by giving such a person a source of attention and knowledge that supports living the relaxed hand state, as it were. The person caught up in 'the clenching hand life', isn't him or herself prepared to live a life according to a 'relaxed hand state'. Though being relaxed and healthy IS the natural state, if your entire life has been about clenching, it's normal that you'll need some help in adjusting to a healthy human way of doing things. This is the main function of the Guru.

One of the ways that the activity of ego expresses itself is as doubt. Doubt IS the activity of pulling away. Doubt is completely different from being critical. Doubt is about knowing and understanding what's necessary and STILL struggling. The doubt one feels is simply a very recognizable manifestation of ego. Doubt IS the activity that IS ego.
The way to transcend doubt (specifically) and ego (in general) is by NOT dwelling on them nor remaining focused on pulling away from life.

Ego is a sleeping giant. It really gets intense when things undermine the activity that is ego. This activity can also be defined: ego is the activity of drawing away from the Divine. Now that sounds all high-n-mighty but 'the Divine' can be as 'mundane' as being human.
Your natural state IS divine. Being a healthy human being is the first step to being able to associate properly with other natural healthy conditions and beings. The so-called oneness that people get all lyrical about is actually a natural condition that flows from being in sync with YOUR OWN inherent nature.
Nature, i.e. the cosmos at large, is NOT about chaos, except as a naturally ORDENED chaotic flux. Human beings can choose to live in sync with the natural order of things or they can choose disassociating from it. This disassociation, the act of disassociating, is ego.
There is another general assumption about ego issues that gets in the way of understanding how all of this works: your mind is at some level constantly reaffirming conditioning that has originated in the past. Though considerations of the origins of egoic reactions can at times be helpful, it's also possible to deal with matters in the present. By simply actually LIVING according to free natural life, the ego is confronted and WILL assert itself. The sleeping giant will awake. Thus it is not necessary in itself to consider the past FIRST. The past will come up into the present in some form or other as the ego rears it's head if you defy egoic activities by initiating natural healthy ones. Knowledge and understanding of, as well as focus on what IS natural, healthy, and appropriate will cause an egoic crisis. This can be extremely confrontational but the process of realignment of psyche will happen if one doesn't get sucked back into inappropriate egoic behavior and instinctively conditioned REaction.

In psychological sense this process is largely due to the constant subconscious ACT of suppressing feelings. This is the authoritarian trauma; the psychological authoritarian trauma that Alice Miller described is about the conditioning that takes place during infancy, especially, to shut out certain feelings. These natural feelings that are inherent to life must be constantly shut out in order to experience the psychological trauma. The conditioning is to be constantly shutting out (certain) feelings that well up naturally.
An 'authoritarian ego', as it were, is the matrix of ACTIVITY of shutting out feelings based on deep-seated conditioning dating back to infancy and looking to (power-based) authority figures to give guidance (because one's own psyche has been crippled to do so itself).

The answer to suppressing feelings and the natural (logical) human state is to ALLOW one's humanity to express itself.
To the Western psyche this is counter-intuitive: the idea that ego is about self-serving feelings that run amok is the opposite of the idea of healthy humanity. The Western idea suggests that ego must be reigned in, that if it is allowed to flow freely that mankind's supposed evil will flourish.
The truth is that the suppression of feelings IS what ego is. By allowing feelings to surface and be appropriately experienced, one is experiencing life as the 'relaxed hand'.

healing egoity

FEEL outside the box. Ego is about remaining within the comfort zone. It's about fear, the ultimate negative feeling. You can THINK outside the box all you want, if you're not up to dealing with the thoughts that lie there, your box will never change.
