Omega 3's can be found in raw greens and fruit. They are the interface. Lipids also carry proteins. The fatty acids are like the tires (on the wheel), the blood stream is the road, proteins are the driver of the bus. High intake of cholesterol shown to actually repair damaged brains It turns out that cholesterol actually helps increase production of an important component of the nervous system that facilitates proper nerve cell communication, and prevents the onset of brain diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. The implications for all individuals are striking, as the study further reinforces the idea that cholesterol is a necessary component of proper brain and nervous system function in everyone. This unconventional concept has been confirmed in several earlier studies, including a comprehensive study published in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons. follow link to read the rest Heart surgeon openly admits low-fat diets recommended for years by mainstream medicine actually cause heart disease The low-fat diet can be traced to studies conducted as far back as the 1940s, in which scientists observed a correlation between what they saw as "high-fat" diets and high cholesterol levels. From there, over the course of several decades, the ideology that low-fat diets were good for the heart and beneficial in maintaining healthy weight became etched in stone as fact, with little room for honest inquiry or opposition. follow link to read the rest also see post: HEALTH, priorities, lifestylenondisclosed_email@example.com (TheDoctorIsInTheHouse)Sat, 31 Aug 2013 15:40:38 +0000 omega 3 & 6https://b2012overleven.runboard.com/p2419,from=rss#post2419https://b2012overleven.runboard.com/p2419,from=rss#post2419(Growing) list of fats & oils and their omega ratios. "Still Taking Fish Oil? Check Out This NEW Warning..." The above link goes to a Mercola article that also advertises one of his products. I don't endorse his products, nor do i dislike them. The article just contains interesting data. I recently, for the first time in my life, heard a podcast that gave me an idea of the importance of the Omega fats. I have honestly just been ignoring the entire issue since i had no pegs to hang the data or opinions around it on. In this post on the danger of Omega 6's i link to a podcast with Ted Slanker at OneRadioNetwork that explains the issue clearly. He suggests being very careful about eating nuts because they contain a dangerous Omega 3 to 6 ratio, i.e. far too many Omega 6 compared to 3's (which would ideally [according to him] be at a 1:1 ratio). He mentions that this is a crucial aspect to health and that a skewed ratio causes all kinds of health problems, from obesity to cancer. Ted Slanker suggests that most people even have 1:15 or 1:20 Omega 3 to 6 ratios (instead of anything near 1:1). He says any ratio above 1:4 [3 to 6] causes health issues. The main literature, more-or-less mainstream as well as alternative, seems to suggest having fish oil or flaxseed oil as a supplement to improve the Omega fat ratio. Someone i recently spoke to mentioned hemp seed. A quick look into this suggests that they are better than flaxseed in many ways, though not as powerful in bringing Omega fat ratios to where they should be. Other than Omega fats, hemp seeds [they're actually nuts] are better for many reasons, like because of the excessive phytoestrogenic properties of flaxseed. So i bought 500gr of hempseed at the local petshop. Set me back 2 euros... They taste nutty, like taking a handful of sunflower seeds. Not bad at all. The person who told me that HE takes hempseed said he baked them. Well, that just destroys the superior amino acids and fats, so i just popped them in my mouth raw, i.e. rawfood. Works fine. It's cheap, tastes great, is filling, nutritional, easy... What else could you ask for? See for lots of good info on hemp products Hemp USA. You'll also find radio interviews listed there, including the one i heard with Patrick Timpone of OneRadioNetwork. Oil Comparison Chart Omega 3 to Omega 6 Flax Seed Oil 4:1 Chia Seed 3:1 Soybean Oil 1:1 Canola Oil 1:2 Hemp Seed Oil 1:3 Evening of Primrose 1:7 Coconut Oil 0:2 Purslane These ratios apply to the RAW [!] oils. The whole issue with heated oils is that the fatty acids turn bad. Then you're generally left with a whole lot of bad Omega 6s at a terrible ratio to the 3s, as well.   Obviously, there are more issues than Omega fat ratio alone. Though canola and soy oils have more Omega 3's, otherwise (research shows) they are inferior oils, if not downright dangerous to your health. It is for this reason that i mention hemp seeds or hempseed oil in relation to Omega fats; as a staple food hemp offers good and safe nutrition besides having good Omega fat qualities. Nutrition experts say a healthy ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 in a diet ranges between 1:1 and 4:1, but the typical North American diet has a ratio of up to 30 times the amount of Omega-6 than Omega-3. A food such as corn oil can be as skewed as 50:1 in favor of Omega-6 and even the soybean, used in tofu and as a staple in diets of the Far East, has a disproportionately high amount of Omega-6 with a 7:1 ratio. The Chia seed, on the other hand, has three times the amount of Omega-3 than Omega-6 in its makeup. Therefore, by consuming more Chia in your diet you will balance out the ratio of fatty-acid intake in your daily nutrition. A correct balance of Omega-6 and Omega-3 leaves you with healthier brain function and allows for normal development of the body. Though chia seeds don't quite offer as many omega 3's per serving as flaxseeds do, it's much easier to eat (more) chia than flaxseed, and also more tasty. Add water to chia seeds, maybe some lime or sugar [typical South American recipe], and you can consume a delicious porridge that is a staple food to some afficionados. Add chia to a larger amount of liquid and have it as a beverage, also works. Chia seeds were literally gifts to ancient South American royalties. They were valued above gold and considered a precious commodity. Now we know why... He says it's very important to stay near this ratio and that it's been proved scientifically [i.e. research, not consensus] that a ratio of over 1:4 (of omega 3's to 6's) causes big problems. For this reason he especially suggests great caution in eating nuts, particularly walnuts (which already contain 4:1 6's over 3's). He says he himself takes flaxseed oil daily because of it's high amounts of omega 3's. Here's a list of foods high in omega 3's. In this podcast with Brian Peskin the professor makes clear that it's important to get PARENT Omega 3's and 6's [i.e. both]. That means that the BAD Omega 6's that are everywhere will not help you. The higher the percentage of good [i.e. parent] Omega fats [3 & 6], the better. That means that eating nuts (in the morning) is a good habit... The parent Omega 3's and 6's sustain the body, while adulterated fats [most things from a factory] are combined molecular strings of fat that cause problems. I tried eating less nuts in the morning but i get extremely dry skin and dandruff. The day i started eating nuts again that went away. I'm tending to appreciate professor Peskin's approach to the Omega fat issue, therefore. A caveat i'd like to place with his remarks in this podcast on not being able to find many fruits or nuts in nature, an argument also presented by paleo diet man Aajonus Vonderplanitz: mankind is a very strange large mammal: - our eyes can't bear the Sun - we're blind at night - we're weak and slow compared to all other large mammal (including apes) - our skin can't take the Sun We just don't seem to belong on this planet! As one might find argued in Matthew and Kevin Taylor's book Land of No Horizon, mankind originated in Hollow Earth. At least we're a hybrid between surface-dwelling apes and Hollow Earth sentient species. In Hollow Earth there's abundant fruit and year-round. Whether one accepts the facts, logic, and sense concerning this matter is a key point in one's approach to diet. If there is no Hollow Earth, people like Ted Slanker are 100% correct.nondisclosed_email@example.com (TheLivingShadow)Sat, 03 Mar 2012 15:26:34 +0000 olive oilhttps://b2012overleven.runboard.com/p1665,from=rss#post1665https://b2012overleven.runboard.com/p1665,from=rss#post1665Toxic rapeseed and other low-grade oils with additives are being passed off as olive oil As much as 50 percent of the olive oil sold in the U.S. is not actually pure olive oil, as some brands claiming to be "extra-virgin" or "100 percent Italian," for instance, have actually been adulterated with toxic rapeseed oil, more popularly known as canola oil, soybean oil, and other low-grade oils. They store easily for long periods until ground. They have to be ground for consumption. A coffee grinder works, and they should be consumed shortly after grinding, within an hour or so. The ground seeds can be eaten by the spoonful or added to cereals and smoothies. It's recommended to have at least two tablespoons per day.
