TEOMCROTE = TEOTWAWKI on steroids! The End Of Mankind's Current Reign Over The Earth takes into account that our ancestors were neither suicidal, stupid, nor our genetic inferiors but still wound up getting wiped off the Earth. Whereas CSER [cser.org: Centre for Study of Existential Risk] tries to PREVENT this dispensation from coming to an end, TEOMCROTE works from the eventuality/possibility/probability that the end our age takes place and what to do then

addictions

In this short Longevity Now talk Hyla Cass talks about medication and the brain organ.

She suggests there's a clear correlation between malnutrition and addiction or lack of 'will power' [see 6 minutes into the vid],

as well as strong indications that the suicide rate is so much higher BECAUSE OF medication, i.e. contrary to what pharmaceutical companies and drug-prescribing physicians who'd have everyone believe that the suicide rate is up IN SPITE OF:

willpower support

podcast on Polygala, the willpower herb

Foods that support willpower, according to Atom Bergstrom, are alfalfa or cucumber for lunch.
Cut head of cucumber [@ stem] at a slant, turn clockwise, then white fluid [gas] comes out. Then do the same with the bottom end.
Seaweed at night, also for willpower.

alcoholism

The founder of AA [alcoholics anonymous] learned about the benefits of taking mega dosages of vitamin B3 [niacin] to fight depression and addiction [including alcoholism] but was fought on spreading the good news.
It turned out that he had allowed investors to gain a veto right within AA in order to get the financial support he desired in spreading AA's influence. His financial supporters, unfortunately, turned out to support Big Pharma and BP doesn't like vitamins. emoticon
Mega dosages of niacin are about taking up to 5 GRAMS a day as opposed to the mainstream dosages of miligrams. The most amazing results have been accomplished but mainstream doesn't like results unless they accomplish insane PROFIT [tho they generally hate all actual results].
Mainstream addiction professionals do generally prescribe vit. B12. It doesn't hurt but it's no substitute for niacin.
Also see the post under CHALLENGES, adrenal fatigue / hormones about the methyl-hormone connection [B12 = methylcobalamin] and how hormones rule over mental states. The B vitamins are also methyl donors.
For the application of niacin it's necessary to take the flushing kind, i.e. not 'no flush niacin'. Therefore it's necessary to work up to taking 5 grams a day.

Page 48 of James Wilson's book on Adrenal Fatigue reads:
In many alcoholics, adrenal fatigue and the resulting hypoglycemia predispose the person to a compulsive desire for alcohol. In other cases of alcoholism, the adrenals become fatigued by the continual use of alcohol. In either case, adrenal fatigue is an intimate component of most alcoholism.

Howard Lotsof was an American scientific researcher and patent holder. When he was 19 years old and addicted to heroin, he accidentally discovered the anti-addictive effects of ibogaine in 1962[1].
He was awarded a number of patents for the treatment of various chemical dependencies with ibogaine. The first of Lotsof's patents, issued in 1985, was US Patent 4,499,096, Rapid Method for Interrupting the Narcotic Addiction Syndrome. The last patent in the series for the use of ibogaine to treat chemical dependence was US Patent 5,152,994, Rapid Method for Interrupting or Attenuating Poly-Drug Dependency Syndromes, awarded October 6, 1992.
Lotsof was active in promoting medical usage and further research of ibogaine and had an interest in chemical dependence patient advocacy including authoring the Ibogaine Patients' Bill of Rights.
Some fifty experts from around the world joined to present on ibogaine and associated subjects.

general causes

[url=http://www.naturalnews.com/036444_white_sugar_gateway_drug_alcoholism.html]
Is white sugar the gateway drug to alcoholism and obesity?[/url]

Gateway drugs are substances that create an initial dependency, and are usually commonly found, legal or socially accepted. These types of drugs often give the user a boost in levels of serotonin, this makes the user feel good. Sugar boosts levels of energy and serotonin, and so enhances mood, but it wears off quickly as the body regulates the blood sugar level with insulin. The user then seeks more sugar as cravings take hold, and as the levels of serotonin drop so does the mood which can lead to depression. The user becomes less sensitive to the effects of sugar over time, due to increased insulin levels. When a sugar addict drinks alcohol, it similarly boosts their serotonin levels and gives a "high." Sugar and alcohol are interchangeable, calorific addictive substances. They are also similar in that they both cause liver damage, diabetes, dependency, tooth decay and depression.
